The Alliance Against Healthcare Mandates held rallies at Broadway Park in Bangor and also in Portland on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 to bring awareness to the ongoing dispute between the organization and the Mills administration.
The action was prompted by the Mills Administration’s August 12, 2021 emergency rule โ a mandate โ requiring certain healthcare workers in Maine to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 29, 2021. The organization filed a lawsuit last Thursday in an attempt to get the mandate overturned.
An attorney for the group, Alliance Against Healthcare Mandates, filed a lawsuit earlier this week on behalf of the alliance which is made up of lawmakers and several organizations, including Health Choice Maine. He believes that DHHS and the Maine CDC did not have authority to order the mandate.
Health Choice Maineโs Tiffany Kreck, an organizer of the rally, agrees and said to WABI TV, โI donโt know what your medical history is, what your family history is. I shouldnโt have the ability to tell you what product you have to take and vice versa. That same goes for the state.โ
Kreck also offered important context: “The alliance is not against the vaccine. They believe in the freedom of choice.”
